# Large-format 5-axis CNC machining

> We machine sculpted, undercut and compound-curved parts on a large-format five-axis gantry mill in Paluknys, Lithuania. The working envelope is 4 100 x 2 100 x 1 000 mm, the typical tolerance is plus/minus 0.1 mm, and machine time starts at 100 euros per hour.

## What the five-axis gantry can do

Simultaneous five-axis machining means the tool reaches undercuts, deep pockets and compound curves in one setup, instead of the part being turned and re-clamped between three-axis operations. Our gantry machine carries a two-axis A/C rotary head on an HSD spindle (A plus/minus 120 degrees, C plus/minus 210 degrees) over a bed sized for large parts.

The result is geometry that most three-axis shops have to turn down: full-height wall panels, large foundry patterns, curved architectural elements and sculpted forms that would otherwise need several separate operations and hand work between them.

- Working envelope up to 4 100 x 2 100 x 1 000 mm
- Simultaneous five-axis, CAM-programmed toolpaths
- A/C rotary head with HSD spindle, A ± 120°, C ± 210°
- Typical achievable tolerance ± 0.1 mm
- Roughing, semi-finishing and finishing stages on the same reference

## Typical jobs we take on

Machine time on the gantry goes into moulds, plugs and master patterns for composites and vacuum forming, tooling for production, one-off parts where nothing off the shelf fits, and shaped components for interiors and buildings.

- Moulds, plugs and master patterns in EPS and PU tooling board
- Sculpted and curved components machined from a CAD model
- Custom parts and one-off pieces from a drawing or a photo with dimensions
- Curved panels and shaped architectural elements
- Prototypes and short runs where repeatability matters

## How a job runs

Send a CAD model, a drawing or a photo with a few key dimensions. We review feasibility and geometry, plan workholding and decide on the machining approach, then send a written price with a realistic lead time, usually within one working day.

Machining itself runs in roughing, semi-finishing and finishing stages. Large parts can be machined in several sections or setups, each aligned to the same reference, so the seams line up when they are put together.

## Finishing and price basis

Parts can be sanded and filled where needed, then sealed or primed, so they arrive ready for installation, lamination, painting or further processing.

Machining is billed by the hour and starts at 100 euros per hour, with roughing, finishing, tool changes and setting up included in the quoted time. Materials are billed at cost with the required size confirmed in the quote; CAD work and finishing are listed separately. Every job is quoted per part, so you know the number before we start.

## Machine and process specification

The figures below are the ones we quote against. If a job needs something outside them, say so and we will confirm before anything is machined.

**Machine and process specification**

| Item | Specification |
| --- | --- |
| Working envelope | 4 100 × 2 100 × 1 000 mm (larger work is machined in sections aligned to the same reference) |
| Machining | Simultaneous five-axis, CAM-programmed toolpaths in one setup |
| Head and spindle | A/C rotary head, HSD spindle, A ± 120°, C ± 210° |
| Typical tolerance | ± 0.1 mm |
| Materials | EPS, PU model and tooling board, MDF, hardwood, plastics and other machinable materials (not metal) |
| Finishing | Sanding, filling, sealing and priming on request |
| Input | Existing CAD model, technical drawing, or a photo with dimensions |

## Questions about five-axis machining

**How large a part can you machine?**

Up to 4 100 x 2 100 x 1 000 mm on the five-axis gantry. Parts larger than one setup can be machined in sections that are aligned to the same reference and matched afterwards.

**How much does five-axis machining cost?**

Machine time starts at 100 euros per hour and includes roughing, finishing, tool changes and setting up. Materials are billed at cost, CAD work and finishing are quoted separately, and you get a written price for the whole job before machining starts.

**Can you machine from a drawing or a photo instead of a CAD model?**

Yes. Send a technical drawing or a photo with the key dimensions and we will assess what is needed, including preparing a CAD model if the job calls for one.

**Do you work with clients outside Lithuania?**

Yes. We work with clients across the Baltic states and Europe, and delivery is available where practical.
